How well do you know your campus?

CougarGuessr is a game inspired by Geoguessr, in which you are shown random locations on campus and have to figure out where they are.

This site is created by and with the help of BYU Students, but is not officially affiliated with BYU or Geoguessr in any way.

This game is very much in its early development, and as such is expected to be a little rough around the edges, basic in functionality, and have bugs. Help us fix those issues by letting us know of any problems or giving us suggestions at cougarguessr@gmail.com.

How to play
In each round, you will be shown an image of somewhere on campus. Your objective is simple: click on where that image is on the map in the corner. Based on your distance from the correct location, you will receive a score for that round, out of 5000 for a perfect guess, down to 0 if on the wrong side of campus.

When starting a game, choose from the settings. Zoom and Pan will enable whether you can zoom and look around at your surroundings, or if you're stuck with a single shot, and have to figure out your location from one angle. Random zoom will sometimes zoom you in to an image, and random tilt will randomize the height you are looking at, so you may have to guess from just the floor or the sky!

Keyboard shortcuts:
You can lock in your guess and start the next round by clicking the button, or by hitting the space bar. Likewise, you can switch floors on the indoor maps by clicking the floor on the right, or just hit the number key on your keyboard to switch to that floor.

Other considerations:
As this game is still in development, a couple other things might help you: Only the buildings with maps have indoor coverage. So if you get an indoor location and you aren't sure where it is, it can only be in a building with an indoor map. We are working on expanding this coverage and adding new buildings, but it will take more than time.
As access to high quality equipment and software is difficult at this stage of development, expect some weird stiching or camera artifacts. This may prove to be an extra challege if disabling panning.

Seeking new locations!
Current number of locations: 140

If you want to contribute, and especially if you are in a major or have a job on campus that gives you access to unique areas or rooms, we are always adding more locations and photos! Contact us at cougarguessr@gmail.com, or if you know how, send in 360 photos to that email with the location, and we'll work on getting it added!
